Meet The Coaches
Are you looking for private or semi-private lessons? Whether you’re a recreational or competitive skater, a beginner or an advanced skater, there are many coaches who can work with you according to your needs while helping you develop your skating. Most lessons are 30 minutes in length but can be customized to your needs as well as coaches’ availability. Feel free to reach out to any of the coaches if you’d like to begin lessons with them.
South Carolina Skating Club does not employ, endorse, or promote any coaches but has listed coaches with whom members have engaged in the past and/or present. Any coach selection should be based on the member’s own due diligence to determine if the coach is a good fit for the member (and vice versa).

Maria Grose

Skating History/Accomplishments: Maria grew up St. Petersburg, Russia and skated competitively growing up. Maria has been coaching at our rink for over 14 years.
Interesting Facts: Maria is an elementary school teacher; she has a master’s degree in education.
Tamara Grose

Skating History/Accomplishments: Tamara Grose is a Palmetto Skate Club homegrown skater and coach. She began her coaching career as a Learn to Skate instructor in 2015.

- Working on her Solo Dances, she has passed all preliminary dances
- Competed for several years on a senior level at USFS competitions
- Won the 2018 best Axel iCoachSkating contest in her age group

Skating History/Accomplishments: Alyssa started skating when she was 8 and took lessons in the Tampa Bay area. She began coaching Learn to Skate in 2023. She’s skated on a synchro team in Florida for a year. She still competes and is working on triples for the next season.

Skating History/Accomplishments: Jenny started skating in San Diego,CA at the age of 8. She trained and competed up until age 27. Also, she has been teaching figure skating for 19yrs. Her background includes Freestyle, Moves in the Field, Ice Dance and her all time favorite Synchronized Skating. Jenny competed Nationally and Internationally with Team del Sol’s Senior Synchronized Skating Team. She loves sharing her passion for skating with others.
Interesting Facts: She is in a movie with Scott Hamilton. It’s called Snowden on Ice. Her Synchronized Skating team (Team del Sol) play the Rockettes. Look for Jenny in the movie!!
